Day 5
In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Let's see. I'm passionate about movies. I watch a ridiculous amount of them. I try to watch at least one every day even though I fail at that most of the times.
I did a film school two years ago and even tried my hand at screenplays. I will always be passionate about films. Maybe one day, I'll get to work on one again.

I also love to bake even though I don't have much time for it anymore. Work is absorbing every second of my life. My specialty was lemon(/orange/pineapple/any fruit really) meringue pie. I hope I'll get to bake more when I get a job that doesn't make me so lazy.

Day 7

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Drop a link to your wish-list in this post. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

-To be honest, I am a sucker for art. Getting art related to my fics is probably the most flattering thing to me. It's why I'm always delighted to see someone picking my summary during BBB.

-I would love for someone to record a podfic from one of my fics. Probably one of my longest ones; one of my latest ones. Listening to my own words might be a bit cringe inducing for me but I do want to revisit some of them. Probably the ones I recced on the first day.

-T-shirts? Any kind of merch, really. I never have enough money for merch. I would love to own some Thursday merch. Maybe a My Chem hoodie. I don't have enough hoodies.

Day 2

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

1) Possibilities in Basic Space by [livejournal.com profile] schneestern
I know this will be shocking to some of you but this is actually a fic about The Used and not MCR. When I used to read fic, it was all about the My Chem love but this fic actually managed to draw me in and keep me reading until the end.
It has zombies (my favorite topic) and reads like Run, Lola, Run. Pretty awesome.
This story deserve so much more love.

2) Somewhere Between the Turning Signal Clicks by [livejournal.com profile] sleepingcities
Every time I rec my favorite fics, this one gets a spot. Frank and Gerard, early days fic and handjobs. It's short and sweet and so hot. Read it.

3) Might I Have a Bit of Earth by [livejournal.com profile] theopteryx
Ok, so I'm cheating. This story gets a lot of love and everyone and their grandma has probably read it but I think it's one of my favorite stories by B-Rexington.
piratesunk: (MCR - Tiny hotass)
I have been out of the fandom for a while.
I remember fondly the days where I had time to write novellas and big bangs like nobody's business. I remember how much I enjoyed telling stories about band boys in love.
That's why I decided to participate in this challenge. It just sounds like it could be fun.
Anyway. Here's my contribution:

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Dance While the Sky Crashes Down - It's not a secret that my favorite kind of stories are post-apocalyptic ones. I wrote this story for NaNoWriMo and had bits and pieces in my head way before it was fully fleshed out. I kept seeing flashes of it; the escape of Gerard and Mikey; the death toll; the road trip. It's probably one of my favorite fics of mine. Ever.

Breathe your life, hold the line, there's more than monsters on the outside - It's a short fic I wrote for an exchange and it's about zombies during World War 2. I kid you not, I was so out of my comfort zone for this one that I hated working on it. But every time I read it, I feel proud because even though I usually don't write from Ray Toro's POV, I think I did a pretty good job with this one.

Some girls are built for speed - The very last fic I wrote and posted. I went to see a roller derby bout last year and I fell in love with the sport. I couldn't stop picturing Frank trying out for an all girls' team and then decided writing a fic about it was the only way to get it out of my head. I consider it my last venture into bandom because I don't think I'll be able to go back to these characters.
piratesunk: (MCR - OTP)
Hi, guys.
I know it's a bit early to do this but I can't resist.
Today I went shopping and I got some very cute and sparkly Christmas cards.

If you'd like one, comment to this post with your address.
Comments are screened.

I have entered the stage of the tattoo healing process known as extreme paranoia.
It's not a real stage you say?
To me it is.

I was doing that when I got my first tattoo and going all D: OMG MY TATTOO IS GOING TO BE UGLY AND IT'S CRACKING AND PEELING AND GOING AWAY. WHAT DID I DO? OMG. WHYYYY?

Well, yeah. I entered that stage about two days ago but I think I have reasons to be freaked out this time. The uniform at work is very tight and I pulled out a lot of scabs by accident.
I see some areas have actually healed under the scab that is now missing but I do have a few bits that are without any ink here and there and quite a lot of scabbing going on in the corners.
I will wait out until everything is healed before going back to Steve, my tattoo guy and see if he can do a free touch up.

Anyway. Yesterday was pretty good.
I was off work so I slept in, stayed in bed for hours, took a random nap, cooked some delicious pasta, went to Kingston to meet Ellie, watched Apollo 18 while eating all of the popcorn and came home late, ready to go back to bed.
A+++ day.

So, Apollo 18. Hmm. I won't spoil you for but let's say it was the kind of movie that don't leave a lasting imprint.
It was entertaining and I admit to jumping a couple of times but that's it, really.

I was much more impressed with the previews, to be fair.
I squeaked when they showed the one for Don't be afraid of the dark.
Also, Troll Hunter looks really funny. TROOOOOOLLLLLLL! I saw the preview for it back when I went to Kapow! Comic Con and it's definitely a movie I'd like to see. Possibly just to laugh at all the wrong moments. But seriously. TROOOOOLLLLLL!

I have absolutely no plans for today. I might just stay in bed and stare at my scabby tattoos.

I don't know if I told you about this guy I've been talking to since June on OkCupid.
No? Well let me tell you about him.

cut for boy talk )

Why am I the worst at life and being a grown up and shit?
No wonder I am single and on my way to becoming a crazy cat lady.

Don't mind me. I'll be over here. Hoarding cats and throwing them at the neighborhood kids while shouting "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

BUNNY FRANK!
piratesunk: (MCR - Ink)
Yesterday, I got my new tattoo(s). I went to The Family Business in London which is a magical place and met with my artist, Steve Vinall. He showed me a couple of things he had been working on for me and then we got started.

Almost three hours later, this is what came out:
You only live forever in the lights you make )

So there. You have the meaning behind this tattoo.

I am not going to make a lengthy/ranty comment on Pedicone's departure from MCR. You all know I love that guy. Yes. I still do. He made a huge mistake (cue GOB in Arrested Development).
I'm just disappointed this ended so badly for everyone involved. The end of a friendship is always devastating.
I feel sad for Frank, Gerard, Mikey, Ray and Pedicone too, but now it's time to move on.
I can't wait to see who their next touring drummer will be.

Speaking of blog posts, I read Gerard's this morning and he was right. I just saw Fright Night and it was awesome. It wasn't anything like the original but it was a very enjoyable movie.

Off to watch Attack The Block now :) Moviiiiieeessss!
piratesunk: (MCR - I call bullshit)
Today is the last day of another 7-day work week. I am exhausted but happy because tomorrow, I am off for two consecutive days. Also, tomorrow, I am getting a TATTOO \o/

I've been waiting for this since I got my first one back in 2009 in Jersey.

My appointment is at noon tomorrow and it should take a couple of hours. Then I WILL HAVE A BRAND NEW TATTOO OMG SO EXCITED I MIGHT DIE.

I'm treating myself to that because I've been working so hard and WHY THE HELL NOT?
Besides, my birthday is coming at the end of the month so I guess that will make this my little present to myself.

So many things have happened this week in bandom. There was Reading, Leeds and Rock en Seine. MCR were awesome or so I've heard. I did see most of Reading because I downloaded the feed. I haven't had time to watch all of it though. Work has been keeping me extra busy.

Then there was Frank writing about how much he loves his job and I teared up a little because he is my favorite human.
Today, Gerard wrote a blog about how much he loves Frank and his band. Then Ray twitted about a Robocop statue and the whole internet exploded with glee.

I need to make this short because I have to get ready for work and maybe get some food in me before I go.

But I wanted to tell you about an awesome BBB I just read. It's the asshole!Frank/asshole!Jamia one that was posted yesterday, I think. I kept he tab open so I could read it this morning.
Seriously, guys. It's the fic of my heart. I just love these assholes so much.

READ IT! (I mean, seriously. It's up to you. Maybe you're more into human taxidermy fic.)

To conclude, how are you doing? I miss the lot of you.
piratesunk: (MCR - Giggle)
Holy shit. This weekend was AMAZEBALLS.

Go read it if you're so inclined.
piratesunk: (MCR - Tiny hotass)
I did it. \o/
I survived my seven days straight of work and today, I am off.

Yesterday was a total clusterfuck at work though. I think it might have been my worst day so far.
Let's review the day in bulletpoints:

- A very angry guest screamed in my face and I almost burst into tears in front of him. All I could do was repeat I'm sorry even though IT WASN'T MY FUCKING FAULT IF THE GENERAL MANAGER COULD NOT SEE HIM. Apparently, you are less than a human when you work in a hotel.

- The new manager wants to change EVERYTHING. She treats everyone like we're in school and don't know shit which, okay, if it had been just the new employees wold have been fine. But she's trying to teach people who have been working here for years how to do their jobs.
A lot of my coworkers are ready to quit.

- It was so busy that we barely had time to do our usual load of paperwork and my duty manager (yeah, we have all kinds of managers there) was getting really pissed off at me because we finished later than usual.

- There were only 2 of us at the front to do a job that would require at least one or two more people. It was terrible. People seemed to have all of the questions.

- When it says check-in time is at 2pm, please, do not all come at 8am expecting us to have a room for you. Seriously. It's not like we can clean a room for you just with a click of our fingers.

In conclusion: FUCK THE CUSTOMERS. FUCK THE NEW MANAGEMENT. FUCK ASSHOLES WHO LIKE TO YELL AT YOU JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A GIRL IN A UNIFORM.

Ok. Now that this is out of my system, let's talk about this weekend.
I have two days off and I am going to enjoy these A LOT.

I am actually going to this Doctor Who Experience thing this afternoon with one of my oldest LJ friends, the amazing [livejournal.com profile] anno_superstar.
Then we're going to Brighton together tomorrow. We haven't seen each other for so long. It's going to be great to hang out again.

I think the last time we hung out was in 2007 (in London too because I was here for an internship).

I just noticed that it's 10am and I need to go in an hour. Which means I need to shower and write as much as I can in less than an hour. Also, maybe have something to eat.
*runs around like a muppet*
piratesunk: (MCR - Tiny hotass)
Sorry for being so shit at replying all your comments.
To answer everyone on my last post about the London riot, everything seems back to normal and my neighborhood wasn't affected after all. We do have a lot of police around but they're mostly here to make everyone feel safer.

I did see a police car on my street last night but I think they were just telling these two kids to go home.

Speaking of last night, I had a good time. Housemate!K and I drove to the cinema (K is still learning how to drive but I was her co-pilot and tried to be as encouraging as possible) and we saw Harry Potter. I had seen it before but K hadn't and I wanted to hang out with her.
We got a bit lost on our way back but managed to make it back home in one piece. There was a lot of high-fives and us being dorks.

The cinema is in a very nice area and it made me want to come back when I'll have a couple of days off, just to walk around.

Apparently, next week will be terrible. I caught a glimpse of the work rota and saw I was working for the next 7 days. I have the sneaking suspicion my manager is testing me or maybe punishing me for all the mistakes I make on a daily basis.

So today is my last day off until Saturday 20th. I think. I will need to see the rota again when I'm at work tomorrow, just to make sure.

This morning I bought a ticket to see Alkaline Trio in London in November. Anyone going? It would be nice to have a concert buddy for that one.

To conclude, this set is the most gorgeous and so is Frank's face:

piratesunk: (MCR - Thinky thoughts)
As you probably all heard by now, London is being destroyed every single night.

The violence which was at first contained to one neighborhood kept spreading, and now, it feels like no one is safe.

Last night, Ealing, a neighborhood which is not too far from mine was hit. They burned down cars and I know of people getting mugged. I think my neighborhood is next. It's not like I live in the safest area anyway.
I just hope they don't set my house on fire or attack me on my way home from work tonight. I am tempted to call in sick so I don't have to go outside but that wouldn't be right.

Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool have been hit too last night. I hope all of you guys are safe.

There are clean ups happening all over London but sadly, I can't participate on account of having to go to WORK.

This better be over soon. I don't think I can take much more of that shit. I am scared and truly disgusted by these riots/looting. They make me feel sick to my stomach.

Just leaving this here.

I am confused. I'm stuck between OUCH, poor bb Frank and OMG Frank, I love your back and your skin and your everything. Also, your face in the mirror and the pattern of the scratching. EVERYTHING.
piratesunk: (MCR - Tiny hotass)
So, I'm off today. My plans involve doing nothing at all and maybe get some writing done if I feel inspired enough.

I haven't written a word in over a week. It's the longest I've been away from fic in years.
I've looked through your comments at the hypothetical AU meme and seriously, you guys have the funniest answers.
I got requests for Marie-Antoinette, Roman, middle age, wizards, ancient Egypt, firefighters, ballet dancers, roller derby and MCR in Sunnydale. I would combine all of these in a giant fic made of crack if I could.
Anyway. Thanks for all the prompts. Too bad I have no idea what to say about these.
I had hoped the meme would unblock me but sadly, it didn't.
I am still the most blocked.
I signed up for this Big Bang a couple of days ago, hoping having a deadline will help. We'll see how it goes.

I think I already talked about it but next Sunday, I have an appointment with a tattoo artist at the most wonderful place in all of London. It's just a consultation for now, to talk about the hows and wheres but it's very exciting.
I'll be going there right after work, I think.

I'm sure you all saw that picture of FRANK ON A BIKE.

2 more! )

How is it the most amazing thing ever? He is tiny and hardcore and I want all of the fic where he is in a BMX gang with Bryan Kienlen of The Bouncing Souls. Who else would be in the gang? Let's discuss this.

Meme time

Jul. 31st, 2011 11:02 am
piratesunk: (MCR - Derpface)
The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms (crossover fandoms count as "a fandom", or feel free to just choose pairings) you know I write AND give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, etc) or another time period (Ancient Rome, Regency England, etc). I will then explain what story from that fandom I would AU in that era.

I don't really have time to work on this today or for the next few days but it will be good to have these potential plot bunnies for when I start writing again.

Or you know, you could just prompt me. I'm always up for a little writing challenge.

Ok. Time to go to work. ZOOM!
